From what I've seen and read it's okay against sven, but not as good as the other armor against the right bosses. I'm focused on Rev til I hit 7, so I don't have mastiff to answer with my own experience. If you want an all around armor, then superior is probably best bet and the price has come down a little if you catch a deal.
