For ranged, given your level it’s so low, you could just thieve/kill bandits for ammo. Craft the gear or get it from spider dungeon. I’d be inclined to say that the ancient claws are better than the rapier but I haven’t really done any testing on that. Ancient claws are definitely better than dragon claws, though.
